Kuypers Kessel, one of the larger carriers in Limburg, has improved its average eco-driving score by 18 percent after one year of using Smart Driver Coaching and has measurably reduced fuel consumption.
**The challenge**
Kuypers Kessel operated a fleet of more than 80 trucks across Europe. Management noticed large mutual differences in driving style, fuel consumption and damage frequency. A structural approach was needed to gain insight and change behaviour.
**Smart Driver Coaching as solution**
Apployee implemented Smart Driver Coaching for all driving staff. Via the app, drivers get real-time insight into their driving behaviour: braking, acceleration, speeding, and gearbox use. Apployee coaches discuss the results monthly with employees and provide targeted coaching.
**Measurable results after 12 months**
- Average eco-driving score improved from 67 to 79 (out of 100)
- Fuel savings of an average of 11% per truck
- Damage costs reduced by 23%
- Higher driver engagement with sustainability goals
**Follow-up**
Kuypers Kessel has extended the partnership and is now also expanding Smart Driver Coaching to the trailer pool and distribution centre employees.
